Solanki alleged that Bhaktinagar police inspector Jitudan Gadhvi had demanded bribe from him for not investigating his role in the assault on March 3. Solanki said he would not end his hunger strike until a probe was ordered against the police inspector.

Jagdish Rathod, a real estate broker, was assaulted by unidentified men in his office and continues to be unconscious in a hospital. On Saturday, three men identified as Virkram Khambhaliya, Dolat Solanki and Manoj Solanki surrendered before police saying they had attacked Rathod. They told police that the attack was a result of a monetary dispute. A court has sent the trio to police custody till March 13. Police have filed a case of attempt to murder.

However, Damayanti met city police commissioner Mohan Jha twice and alleged that Narendra Solanki was behind the attack. She also gave written application to the commissioner in this regard.

Meanwhile, the police commissioner refuted allegations of bribe. “He (Solanki) has not given us any application regarding this. Three men arrested in connection with the case have told us that they attacked Rathod at the behest of Solanki and therefore, we are not ruling out arrest of Solanki,” Jha told The Indian Express.

Incidentally, Narendra Solanki had turned “sanyasi” in June last year in the presence of Chief Minister Anandiben Patel. Even at the time he turned a sadhu, he was facing two criminal cases registered under Arms Act and for rioting.

He had even been questioned by police in the case of alleged mass suicide by five members of a Nepalese family in 2013.
