Nivetha Thomas heads to T’wood
Actress Nivetha Thomas, who started her filmi career as a child artiste in Malayalam, is making her foray into the Telugu film industry. The young artiste has bagged two Telugu projects, and interestingly she will play the lead in both the films. Titled Juliet - Lover of Idiot, the film will see actor Naveen Chandra and Nivetha play the romantic pair. She is tight-lipped about her role but says, “I play Juliet, the title character in the film.”
The other Telugu project she has taken up is an untitled musical love story in which she plays a working professional.
Quiz her the reason for picking up two love stories, and she says, “I love to do romantic movies. In fact, I was longing to be a part of a love story. As luck would have it, I bagged not one but two offers, and both of them are equally interesting. It is hard to play a role in a musical love story and such a genre is not explored much in Telugu films. The films here are mostly masala entertainers or action-packed films, so I was happy to hear a script of a different genre.”
Currently, Nivetha has taken a break from her film shoots to concentrate on her exams. The second-year architecture student says, “Since my exams are nearing, I have taken a break. I will resume shoot only in June. My priority is studies; I will do movies only when I am free.” Meanwhile, her college friends are helping her pick up the language. “I like Telugu and keep a tab of the films in the industry. I have many friends from Andhra and the accent is not that difficult. I read my lines and so far I have found it easy,” she adds.
Nivetha’s Tamil film Papanasam will hit the screens soon.
