Members of the group Gurgaon Moms celebrated Women’s Day with lot of naach, gaana and masti.
Though Women’s Day celebrations continued all day in different parts of Gurgaon, the day ended on a fun note with a lot of dancing and masti at Cyber Hub. Members of Gurgaon Moms, a network of Gurgaon women, came together to organize Superwomaniya, a day full of activities, workshops and interactive sessions for their members and other ‘womaniyas’ of Gurgaon.
While they had sessions on pottery, gardening, art and photography during the day, the zumba session and the flash mob scheduled for the evening were clearly the favourites of the ladies. While the sudden rain did manage to wash out the venue, it had no effect on the spirits of the participants and the cheering audience.
FLASH MOB WIN: The flash mob saw the group’s members dance to songs like 'India Waale' and 'Chak De India', which made all the husbands and kids present at the venue turn photographers and professional cheerers, as they held banners on women empowerment proudly. The energy continued with zumba sessions and we heard many of the moms happily making after-party plans.
WOMAN UP! Rashmi Saxena, an active member of the group, added, “We were initially upset when it started raining, but thankfully, everything fell into place. It’s a group of positive women and we all love to come together for events that are important to all of us as women.” Neela Kaushik, founder of the Gurgaon Moms, told us, “The women who took out time to participate in any of these activities, those who practiced for the flash mob, those who arranged the workshops and made the banners, all of them are going back home so happy and that’s what matters to us. The idea we want to promote is to ‘Woman up!’ To take matters in our own hands and contribute more strongly to the society. So, for us, this Women’s Day was not about the spas and the discounts, but about starting a new movement and a new us.”
