Former Law Minister M.C. Nanaiah, who is heading a 26-member expert committee to suggest amendments to the law related to sexual assault cases and enhancement of punishment for the crime, on Monday said, BBC aired the documentary ‘India’s Daughter’ to tarnish India’s image globally.
Addressing presspersons here, he said many sexual and rape cases were reported from Britain and other advanced countries but no documentary was done by interviewing the convicts. The documentary contained defamatory remarks against Indian men, he said and questioned the motives behind the documentary done by British Director Leslee Udwin.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had also criticised the BBC for airing the documentary. The committee is expected to submit its report along with its recommendations within next three months.
