The Women Entrepreneurs (WE), women empowerment forum of Tamil Nadu Chamber Foundation, honoured achievers from the city as part of Women’s Day celebrations and ‘WE’ annual conference on Sunday.

Under ‘Amazing woman’ category, singer T.R.M. Savithri, bharatanatyam teacher J. Prema, social entrepreneur S. Kalpana, Dr. Yazhini Selvaraj, teacher S. Ezhilarasi, entrepreneur Vijaya Bharathi and rural entrepreneur S. Raja Reega were honoured.

These women’s contributions were recognised for having cemented their position in their fields while being a source of inspiration for others. They were honoured by actress and entrepreneur Poornima Bhagyaraj and Director K. Bhagyaraj, who were the chief guests. The couple also launched the ‘Differently abled’ wing of the WE, which is aimed at assisting differently abled women to become entrepreneurs.

Speaking about the forum, WE chairperson Rajkumari Jeevagan said that they were working towards giving a fillip to entrepreneurial activities of women in the district and help them run successful business ventures through right guidance and mentoring.

“On Women’s Day, it is important to recognise the magnanimity and generosity that women possess in abundance. Utilising their inborn traits of hard work and courage, women can channel their positive energy into entrepreneurial activities successfully,” she said.

S. Rethinavelu, senior president, Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and S. Krishna, life coach, among others addressed the gathering.

Students of dance exponent Anitha Guha’s Bharathanjali Dance School from Chennai put up a performance.
