AHMEDABAD: For IIT-Gandhinagar student Neha Shah, going wild was inevitable on Holi. But her skin has faced the brunt of fun and frolic. Over exposure to treacherous dyes has also caused her serious eye allergy.
After soaking in festivities and colours, revellers like Shah are now heading to cosmetologists and ophthalmologists to minimize the harmful effect of colour onslaught.

Plastic surgeon Dr Bijal Parikh says, "The intense rough washing that follows after Holi takes a heavy toll of skin health. Post Holi, we witness an increase of more than 40% cases of laser treatments and facial rejuvenation, most of whom are youngsters."
Another cosmetologist Vijay Bhatia says, "The majority of his clients are women who want scars removed and glow back on their skin." Since most of these colours especially green are laced with industrial dyes and copper sulphite, cases of eye allergy and puffiness have also seen an alarming rise.
