KANPUR: A middle-aged woman was allegedly beaten to death after her goats ate the wheat crop of her neighbour at Nagla Deepa village near Bhogaon in Mainpuri district on Saturday. A case has been registered. The accused have escaped.
Gopshri was thrashed to death after her goats strayed into the field of her neighbour Ziledar, known to be an influential man in the village, and ate his standing wheat crop.

Gopshri drove the goats back. Though goats belonging to other people had also eaten his crop, Ziledar allegedly singled out Gopshri's house and approached there, shouting expletives.
Her husband Mardan Singh tried to offer resistance. Ziledar and his accomplices started beating him. When Gopshri intervened, Ziledar and his accomplices attacked the woman, leaving her critically wounded.
Gopshri was admitted to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (RIMS&R) in Saifai where she succumbed on Saturday night.
Police officials and PAC are camped in the village to prevent backlash. "The accused and his accomplices Saurabh, Major, Gaurav, Neeraj and Sunny have been charged with murder," said SHO Bhogaon. They have escaped.
