A flower show and painting competition was held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Sarabha Nagar on Sunday.
Almost 100 participants, including institutions and individuals, participated in the show and almost thousand flower pots of various varieties of seasonal, foliage and perennial plants, cacti, succulents and bonsai were exhibited.
The Gurdwara Management Committee organised the show under its environment programme ‘balehari kudrat waseya’.

Over 150 participants in various age groups participated in the painting competition based on the theme of plants/flowers as mentioned in Gurbani.
Dr Ajaypal Singh Gill, Dr Ranjit Singh, Dr J S Arora, Dr Parminder Singh, Dr Harpinder Singh Grewal and Dr Brij Mohan Bhardwaj were the judges for the flower show whereas the painting competition was judged by Babli Singh and Rupinder Kaur.
In the painting competition Ravneet Kaur, Kirandeep Kaur, Manavjit Singh and Manpreet Kaur got the first prizes in the primary, middle, senior secondary and general categories. All these winners were given bicycles.
During the show, emphasis was laid on the cultivation of herbal plants and developing methods of utilising kitchen waste for manure for kitchen gardens and ornamental plants.
