G. Murugesan (65) and K. Manikandan (20) of Seduvalai, died and G. Mahendran of Okkalapuram sustained injuries when a Bangalore-bound private omni bus coming from Chennai hit the rear of the van in which they were travelling at Poigai on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway, about 10 km from here on Friday night.
According to the Virinjipuram police, the front left tyre of the van burst and the accident occurred when the driver tried to steer the vehicle to the left side of the road. All the three persons were admitted to the Government Vellore Medical College Hospital (GVMCH), Adukkamparai and the CMC Hospital, Vellore. Murugesan and Manikandan succumbed to the injuries later in the night, while Mahendran is undergoing treatment at the GVMCH. – Special Correspondent
