A 14-year-old boy was detained for two days in a hotel by its owner and others demanding compensation for allegedly damaging their car in a road accident at Gachibowli. The boy was rescued by police on Saturday.

A criminal case was registered against the hotel owner Karunakar Raju, his lawyer Ramasheshu Raju and driver G. Sundara Raju, who detained the minor in the hotel at Jayabheri Four Seasons venture. Three days ago, the boy had hit the hotelier’s car while riding a bike.

The car driver forcibly took the boy to the hotel and left him in the custody of Karunakara Raju, Gachibowli Inspector Ramesh Rao said. Later, the hotel owner and his lawyer rang up the minor’s elder brother and demanded money to secure the boy’s release.

As his family couldn’t arrange money, they approached some elders in the area who informed the Cyberabad police about the incident. The Gachibowli police rushed to the spot and rescued the boy.
