Two Kandivali women succumb to swine flu

Two 40-year-old women, both residents of Kandivali died of swine flu taking the death toll in Mumbai to seven this year. The deadly H1N1 virus has already infected 754 Mumbaikars so far. BMC’s epidemiologist Dr Mangala Gomare said that they were not related to each other.

BMC officials said, a 45-year-old woman suffering from thyroid died at the Nair Hospital on Thursday. She was first admitted to Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali. The second woman, 47, had a co-morbid condition of autoimmune Thrombocytopenia, a bleeding disorder in which the blood doesn’t clot, due to a low platelet count. She died at the Ambedkar hospital on Saturday.
