Action against teacher, students for indiscipline

March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - G. KONDUR (KRISHNA DT.):

A faculty member at a private Teachers Training Course (TTC) institute, N. Prasada Rao, was dismissed and three students of the same college suspended on charges of indiscipline.

The management initiated action against the four following an inquiry. Meanwhile, one of the students lodged a complaint with the G. Kondur police and approached the District Collector alleging misbehaviour on the part of the lecturer.

Sources said two girls studying at the institute at G. Kondur in Krishna district, were staying at the government-run hostel at Mylavaram. A few days ago, one girl reportedly went out with her boyfriend and did not return. The management suspended the two girls and the boy on charges of indiscipline. Prasada Rao, who came to know about this, allegedly started harassing one of the girls and misbehaved with her.

The victim lodged a complaint with the management and the G. Kondur police, and Rao was removed from service. The girl also lodged a complaint with District Collector Babu A. during ‘Prajavani’ (Grievances Day) on Monday.

Acting on the complaint, the Collector directed the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) to inquire into the allegations and submit a report. A team of officials, including District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Ch. Vijay Kumar, visited the college on Thursday. “We met the institute registrar, director, principal and students and recorded their statements. Prasada Rao deposed before the team members. A report will be submitted to the Collector soon,” said Mr. Vijay Kumar.
