Boost as Chinese tourists confirm tour of Kenya

Kenya: The tourism sector this week got a shot in the arm with the confirmation that 114 Chinese tourists among them chief executive officers of leading tour companies are to visit the country. The tourists' arrival will be followed by top managers of tour companies, sales executives whose itineraries are set for different dates within the next three weeks.

The visit follows a joint promotion by Kenya Tourism Board and the Kenyan Embassy in China held early this year. "Following our reassurance campaigns in Beijing and Shanghai together with our embassy earlier this year, major Chinese tour operators are beginning to show renewed interest in selling Kenyan destinations," said KTB Managing Director Muriithi Ndegwa.

Kenya's Ambassador to China Michael Kinyanjui said the tour organised by Polaris Safari Limited in collaboration with Uniway Travel will go a long way in equipping the Chinese tour operators and agents with first-hand experience of Kenya as a destination.
