: Jamaludheen Farooque, whole-time director of Indiavision Satellite Communications Ltd. who was arrested on charge of service tax evasion, was remanded to the Kakkanad sub- jail till March 16 by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences Court), Ernakulam, on Thursday.
A release issued by the office of the Commission of Central Excise, Customs, and Service Tax claimed that the accused had admitted to have failed to remit Rs. 1.50 crore collected as service tax from the company’s service recipients between April 2013 and March 2014. The total service tax due for the period between April 2013 and January 2015 amounted to Rs. 2.36 crore. — Staff Reporter
