Bengaluru, March 6: There was a minor diversion from the all the legal jargon that was going on in the Karnataka High Court where the appeal filed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case is being heard.

The bone of contention was a lemon which was found where Special Prosecutor in the case, Bhavani Singh was sitting.

In a bid to sensationalise the issue, a regional newspaper reported that it was a lemon meant to conduct black magic and it was specifically brought from Madurai.

What is the truth?

Sadly enough none of this was true and it was a lemon which was left at the high court by mistake by an advocate. Bhavani Singh, against whom the lemon was supposed to be used told oneindia that it has been two days and he has not seen the contentious lemon as yet.

"I have heard this story, but have not seen the lemon. Black Magic? It is quite laughable," he also said.

An official at the high court whom we spoke to about this lemon said, " it belonged to some advocate. Some people who feel nauseous have a habit of carrying lemon in their pocket and this was a case of just that, the official informed.

The lemon history

Karnataka and black magic have had a history. Lemons had been found outside the Vidhan Soudha when B S Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister. The BJP had then accused the JD(S) of performing black magic.

Only recently the JD(S) was once again accused by some members of the Congress of performing black magic. The Congress which won a legal battle against the JD(S) for an office space entered the building to find some lemon placed there. They were quick to accuse the JD(S) of performing black magic.
