Michael Holten has denied five charges against him, following his arrest on Thursday morning by detectives.

The 32-year-old from Kempsey appeared in Armidale Local Court Friday morning after he was refused bail by police on Thursday night.

He pleaded not guilty to two counts of break, enter and steal, armed with intent to commit serious indictable offence, steal from person and goods in custody.

Holten was formally refused bail by Magistrate Mal Macpherson and will remain in custody until the case returns to court in April.

Police will allege amongst two dozens items seized during the raid on the Butler St home were stolen goods which were reported missing during a spate of break-ins in Armidale this year.

"Police will allege property located during the search warrant was linked to break and enters in Faulkner St on March 1, Belinda St on February 2, Allingham St on January 28 and Mann St on March 2," Armidale Inspector Roger Best said.

A brief of evidence into the case will now be prepared.

Holten has also been charged and has pleaded not guilty to two offences after alleged incidents on the Coast and will appear in a Port Macquarie court next month.

Holten's arrest is the latest by police in the crackdown on burglary offences across Armidale.

While offence numbers have fallen following extra police patrols, break-ins are still being reported to police.

"Residents can help immensely by securing their homes and reporting any suspicious activity to us," New England crime manager Detective Inspector Ann Joy said.

"We are always focused on stamping out this type of crime. Report it and we will act."
