Train crushes man to death

LAHORE  - A 30-year-old man was crushed to death under a train near railways crossing in Shahdara Town on early Thursday, police and rescue workers said. The Edhi Ambulance service shifted the body to the morgue.
The deceased, unidentified so far, was lying crushed to death near the railways line as the rescuers reached the spot. Police are investigating whether the man was killed accidentally or he committed suicide by jumping in front of the train.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was crushed to death by a rashly-driven car in North Cantonment police precincts.
Eyewitnesses told the police that a man, later identified as Javed Masih, was crossing a road when a recklessly-driven car hit him from the rear side. Javed sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he expired. The driver along with the driven managed to escape from the crime scene. The police are investigating.
Norwegian police delegation calls on IGP
A four-member delegation of Norwegian police called on Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Thursday, a police spokesperson said.
The delegation was comprised of headed by Tove Aas Bechmann, Nordic Liaison Officer, Jacqueline Heyboer Adviser to Nordic Liaison Officer, and Pervez Mohsin, Adviser to Nordic Liaison Officer.
The delegation remained with the IGP for sometime and discussed the matters of mutual interest with each other especially working pattern of the police departments of both countries.
