The deities of Nitai Gauranga were given a celestial bath with sacred waters of seven rivers – Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswathi, Narmada, Sindhu and Kaveri – stored in 108 Kalasams . The ritual was followed by mahabhishekam performed with panchamrutha and panchagavya along with a mix of 20 varieties of flowers. After the celestial bath, the idols were decked up with magenta coloured attires and fresh flower garlands.
At Gurajada Kalakshetram, hundreds of devotees made a beeline to the venue to witness a variety of programmes held to mark Guru Purnima and the transcendental appearance of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu here on Thursday. Organised by Hare Krishna Movement, the celebrations began at 6 p.m. and continued till late into the night.
Cultural programmes, nagar sankirtan, special puja, mangala aarti, and distribution of prasadam formed part of the celebrations. Ankita Virapalli, a third year B.Tech student, performed a devotional concert at the venue.
