Vidyarthiki Revenue Nestam, a concept developed and being implemented by the Medak administration, has been addressing serious problems of the students, thereby benefiting large number of them. The programme is the result of a convergence exercise by Revenue and Education Departments. Joint Collector A. Sarath is the guiding force behind the idea.
XL sheet statement
Under this concept, the data of students from Class 6 to 10 is being generated as an XL sheet statement by the Education Ddepartment with complete details of the students which would be forwarded to the revenue department. The students need not come to mandal office and they can handover the application to the headmaster concerned.
A nodal officer (teacher) assigned with that job would hand over the bulk certificates at the mandal office. The certificates include caste, residence and income which are essential to submit for various applications including stipend.
Earlier, parents of the students used to move around mandal revenue offices to get these certificates and to get each certificate they had to spend a minimum of Rs. 100 in addition to sparing time and energy.
In the present system, headmaster of high schools and mandal education officers were made responsible to check the data, find the requirement of the students and forward the details to the revenue officials.
Once the bulk of applications were forwarded, they will be issued by the Revenue Department after proper checking.
Renewals
In the case of renewal they would be issued immediately where as for fresh certificates it would be done after verification at ground level and it may take between three to five days.
“So far 1.62 lakh certificates were issued for about 70,000 students in Siddipet, Medak, Patancheru and Sangareddy assembly constituencies.
At the district headquarters alone as many as 59,000 certificates were issued. The remaining constituencies will be covered in the next 10 days,” Mr Sarath told The Hindu.
Formally distributing certificates to the students at Sangareddy on Thursday, Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said that this would save time and energy for parents as well as revenue officials.
“This is a once in a year job which would benefit the student all the year,” he said while addressing a gathering and added that for the first time this is being implemented in Telangan State in Medak district as a beginning.
District Education Officer A Rajeswar Rao said that about one lakh students would get benefitted with the scheme.
