Plus Two exams commence amidst strict vigil

Static and flying squads monitor the examination centres to prevent malpractices

Amidst strict vigil by the invigilators and flying squads, Plus Two public examination commenced at 105 centres across the district on Thursday.

A total of 34,707 students from 278 higher secondary schools including 14,916 boys and 19,791 girls appeared for the examination after brief special prayers were conducted on the premises prior to the start of the exam.

District Revenue Officer M.G. Kulandaivel visited the examination centre at St. Ignatius Convent Higher Secondary School, Palayamkottai. Police personnel are being deployed in front of every examination centre.

Each three examination centres are being covered by a flying squad while the standing squads, each comprising one teacher, will be responsible for every ten examination halls in the ‘vulnerable centres’ besides the regular invigilators deployed in the rooms.

Members of these squads, who are being posted only on the day of the examination, have been instructed to visit the examination halls without disturbing the students.

Review meeting

Based on the inputs provided by the members of the flying squads during the review meetings being organized in the afternoon, strategy for the next day’s flying squad visit to the examination centres would be designed.

Number of students appearing for the examination: Cheranmahadevi educational district: 10,854 (4,530 boys and 6,324 girls), Tenkasi educational district: 11,024 (4,819 boys and 6,205 girls) and Tirunelveli educational district: 12,829 (5,567 boys and 7,262 girls).

In neighbouring Tuticorin district, 19,736 students including 8,732 boys and 11,004 girls appear for the Plus Two examination that commenced in 65 centres across the district.

Number of students appearing for the examination: Tuticorin educational district: 13,042 (5,670 boys and 7,372 girls), Kovilpatti educational district: 6,694 (3,062 boys and 3,632 girls).

Nagercoil

Of the total number of 25,455 students, 25,288 appeared for the plus two examinations, said A.S. Radhakrishnan, Chief Educational Officer.

167 candidates were absent for the examination, which includes 57 from Nagercoil education district, 55 from Thuckalay and 68 from Kuzhithurai educational district, he added.

No malpractice was reported from the three educational districts and the examination was held peacefully by and large in entire district. Examination was held in 83 centres.

In all 47 differently-abled including 13 visually challenged persons wrote the examinations.

Thirteen scribes (Graduate Trained Teachers) wrote the exams for the visually challenged students.

Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan along with the CEO inspected the examination centre at Little Flower Girls Higher Secondary School.

Over 300 static and flying squads including 60 under the direct supervision of the Chief Educational Officer monitored the examinations.
