Pawan feels pulse of aggrieved farmers

Jana Sena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan visited four villages in Guntur district notified for the Capital region to understand the problems of farmers related to land pooling here on Thursday.

While interacting with farmers, Mr. Pawan attempted to drive home the message that YSR Congress activists making noises over the issue. “Are you YSR Congress activist?,” he asked a farmer at Yerrabalem village. And, he was quick to add, “I don’t mind, even if you are YSR Congress worker.”

Hopes dashed, says farmer

Irked over it, the villager said: “The issue is apolitical. We are bringing the problems to your notice.”

Another farmer said, “I voted for the TDP all my life. But, this time, the party has dashed our hopes.”

The actor responded when the villager said that the TDP leaders were intimidating farmers to give their consent for parting with their land or face land acquisition.

Jagan visit

Incidentally, YSR Congress leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy visited the Capital region a few days ago to interact with the farmers.

Mr. Pawan postponed his schedule to Thursday though he was supposed to tour the villages much before Mr. Jagan.

The actor also sought to know as to why farmers were not interested in packages announced by the government.

At Undavalli, he repeatedly asked whether the villagers, who were up in arms against land pooling, were ready to give their lands for the Capital.

He also sought to know what the apprehensions of farmers were.

At Bethapudi, he squatted on the floor and interacted with women and farmers.Poser to govt.

Stating that the vast tracts of land were acquired for various projects during YSR’s tenure, the actor said then government had acted at its whims and fancies. The lands were handed over to corporates.

“The Congress government also had acquired hundreds of acres for VANPIC.

Everyone knew what its status was. Now, the onus lies on the TDP government to instil confidence among people that every acre would not face VANPIC fate,” he said.
