Winged visitors of Hunsinkere, a tank on the outskirts of Hassan, are attracting bird watchers from distant places too. Students of Vijaya Mahantesh Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya at Ilkal in Bagalkot district, on Thursday, visited the place and took pictures of birds, besides learning about the behaviour of different birds from experts.

B.S. Desai, artist, said art students from Ilkal were interested in visiting the tank as it was attracting rare birds from distant places. “The place has been attracting bird watchers people from far off places. There is no other place near Hassan which is as enchanting as Hunsinkere tank. We have been requesting the district administration to develop it into a tourist destination and create a more conducive atmosphere for birds,” he said.

Basavaraj Gavimath, Dean of the Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya, had brought about 35 students to the tank. Students spent about two hours watching the birds. “We included a visit to Hunsinkere as part of our study trip. They need to learn about birds, their behaviour and the need to conserve water bodies for better future,” he said.
