MLA accused of slapping former bank chairman

Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti leader and Khanapur MLA Arvind Patil allegedly thrashed Vijay Kamat, former chairman of Primary Land Development Bank, for fielding his supporters in the bank election at Nandgad village of Khanapur taluk on Wednesday.

Injury

Sources in the Nandgad police station told The Hindu that Mr. Kamat sustained injuries on his left ear.

He was administered first aid at the primary health centre in the village. Mr. Kamat lodged a complaint in the night, they said.

Election

Mr. Patil wanted his supporters to be elected unopposed to the key posts in the bank.

However, he was upset after Mr. Kamat fielded his supporters in the polls, the police added.
