Hasselbaink praise for Edwards

Phil Edwards' nomination for League Two Player of the Month is just reward for the defender, according to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The 29-year-old is one of four players listed for the February award along with strikers Jamie Cureton and Lewis Alessandra, of Dagenham and Plymouth respectively, and Portsmouth midfielder Jed Wallace. Burton boss Hasselbaink acknowledged the importance of Edwards to his side's title aspirations. The Dutchman said: "He deserves it. He's doing ever so well - he's one of the first names on the team sheet. "Unfortunately I had to take him off against Newport last weekend because he had a little Achilles problem and I didn't want to aggravate that. "It was touch and go for him playing. He played through the pain and luckily he's back 100 per cent and we will need him."
