50+ Years With Neptune And Building On A Decade of R900 Technology

The Public Works Utilities of Billings, Montana, began their partnership with Neptune Technology back in the 1950s and was an early adopter of Neptune’s ARB® absolute encoder meter reading technology in the 1960s.

As of August 2010, the City’s 30,644 services have been entirely read using R900 RF technology.

In 2012, Neptune and the Utility began to implement the R900® Gateway fixed network data collectors. While the process is still being fine-tuned, the benefits already include multiple daily reads to help customers monitor water consumption, cut read time by half to 6 hours, and saved more than 50 work orders per month.
