Ankara seeks to bring Turkmen gas to world markets

Turkish partners show great interest in joint supply of the Turkmen energy resources to the world markets, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said March 4, Turkmen Altyn Asyr TV channel reported.

President Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to Turkey on March 3-4.

President Berdimuhamedov confirmed the huge prospects available for the cooperation between the two countries in the above-mentioned area, which are of strategic importance.

He said that at present, the international legal framework is being formed to implement these projects.

It was reported in November 2014 that during the official visit to Ashgabat, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) project could count on Turkmen gas supplies to Europe.

Then, following the high-level talks, Turkmengas state concern and Turkish Atagas company signed a framework agreement on cooperation in natural gas purchase and sale.

Turkmenistan is one of the key players on the gas market in the Caspian region and Central Asia.

Turkmenistan’s international investment forum opened in Istanbul March 4, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

Dozens of companies from Turkey, the US, as well as Europe and Asia attended this forum.
