Black (2005) Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan, the film revolves around a blind, mute and deaf girl, Michelle. The story — inspired by Helen Keller’s life and struggle — focuses on Michelle’s relationship with her eccentric teacher, who himself falls prey to Alzheimer’s later.
Lal Baadshah (1999) Lal Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) lives with his mother (Nirupa Roy) in a small Mumbai slum. Fondly called Lal Baadshah by the people, Lal is dead set against crime. A Bollywood masala flick, directed by KC Bokadia, it was Bachchan’s third film since his comeback after a five-year hiatus. Though it failed at the box office, it was a hit in the cowbelt areas of UP and Bihar. The forgettable flick can be best remembered for Amitabh dancing in a bright red suit with the much-younger Shilpa Shetty. The movie also stars Manisha Koirala.
The Green Mile (1999) A fantasy drama, the film is directed by Frank Darabont and is adapted from the 1996 Stephen King novel by the same name. Told in a flashback format, the movie stars Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb. The story is about Paul’s life as a death row corrections officer during the Great Depression in the US and the supernatural occurrences he witnessed.
The Blue Lagoon (1980) A romantic-adventure, directed by Randal Kleiser, the film revolves around two young kids marooned on a tropical island in the south Pacific. With no adults to guide them, the two make a simple life together — eventually reaching puberty and falling in love.

A Clockwork Orange (1971) It is a crime drama, based on Anthony Burgess’s 1962 novella by the same name. Adapted, produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, the film presents some violent and disturbing images as a comment on psychiatry, juvenile delinquency and other social, political and economic issues in a dystopian near-future Britain.
