He helped accident victim, filed case after his death
MOHALI: He is a Samaritan who does not stop at doing a good deed. And, he walks the justice route too. Meet Nitish Khullar, a Sohana resident, who not only took an accident victim to the hospital, but also paid for his treatment and medicines. And when the hit-and-run victim died, he lodged an FIR against the unknown vehicle driver.
On the night of February 20, Khullar was driving back home from Banur when he saw a speeding car hitting the pedestrian near Lalru.

He immediately pulled over, picked up the injured and called up cops posted near Lalru for help. He then drove the victim to Kharar civil hospital. As nobody knew about the victim or his family, the car dealer took upon himself the treatment expenses. He looked after the man for almost two weeks. But when on Tuesday police told Khullar that the victim had succumbed, he lodged an FIR against the car driver.
"When I saw him lying on the road and bleeding profusely, I was shocked and wondered how stoic people could be. He was bleeding to death and commuters were just passing by," said the do-gooder.
After getting his post-mortem examination, Khullar is now looking for his family.
"I cannot see anyone suffering. I will always step forward to help people," he added.
On the complaint of Khullar, police have registered a case under sections 279 and 304A of the IPC.
Investigation officer ASI Jasbir Singh, who is posted in Sohana, said, "When we told Khullar that the man he helped had died, he asked us to lodge an FIR. One hardly comes across such noble souls."
