BJP MLAs complain to L-G

March 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:59 am IST - NEW DELHI:

BJP’s Vijender Gupta and two legislators met Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Tuesday to complain against the “unconstitutional conduct” of the ruling party in the Legislative Assembly.

Earlier in the week, Mr. Gupta and Delhi Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal had a spat in the Vidhan Sabha over the content of the former’s speech in the House. The BJP legislators said they hoped Mr. Jung will take necessary steps to “put an end to the dictatorial tendencies of the AAP-led Delhi Government”.

Mr. Gupta is learnt to have lodged a complaint against the working of the Delhi Government, stating that it is attempting to “infringe upon the constitutional and democratic rights of the Opposition”. He also alleged that Mr. Goyal acted in a biased manner and “behaved more like an AAP spokesperson” than a non-partisan constitutional authority.
