Rs. 1 crore given to widow of CRPF martyr

The widow of a slain head constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was paid Rs.1 crore as financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund here on Wednesday. Delhi Social Welfare Minister Sandeep Kumar went to the residence of Meena Devi at Kheda Dabar and handed her a cheque for the amount, while offering his condolences.

Killed in Bihar

Head Constable Narottam Das, who was a driver with the CRPF, was killed along with one of his colleagues when his vehicle was blown up by Naxalites in Gaya, Bihar, on February 24. About a dozen CRPF officers were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the blast.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had assured Mr. Das’ family of all possible help from the government at his cremation.

Among others, Matiala MLA Gulab Singh, Vikaspuri MLA Mahendra Yadav, Bawana MLA Ved Prakash, senior officers and residents of the village were present on the occasion.
