Description
Canopy Connections is Casey Trees’ annual, one-day conference geared towards industry professionals to discuss pressing urban forestry issues, learn about the latest research being undertaken and connect with other practitioners and those interested in growing and protecting our trees and urban forests. The theme for the 2015 Canopy Connections is Urban Forests for Public Good. Five distinguished experts will discuss how urban forests and other natural areas improve our lives and provide various health, environmental, economic and social benefits.

Dr. Morgan Grove — Social Ecologist and Team Leader, USDA Forest Service’s Baltimore Field Station

Mr. Galvin and Dr. Grove will highlight two innovative and exciting initiatives — the Baltimore Urban Waters Partnership and the Baltimore Wood Project, both of which are aiming to transform Baltimore’s environmental liabilities into economic opportunities and desirable natural resource amenities.

Attendees will:
- Learn about the various social, environmental, and health benefits of trees and how crucial green infrastructure is for healthy and thriving communities

-Learn from a Baltimore case study about two projects that utilize city environmental liabilities and turn them into desirable natural resource amenities

-Understand the need for urban greening to allow communities to respond to the pressures and demands of a city environment undergoing rapid environmental change
