VADODARA: The Vasad-based research centre of the Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (IISWC) in Anand district recently farm innovators day.
Around 100 farmers from Kheda, Anand, Vadodara and Panchmahal districts participated in this event.
During the programme aimed at motivating farmers to adopt modern and appropriate soil and water conservation technologies under ravines and watershed programmes, five farmers were honoured with ‘Innovator Award’ to recognise their special contribution in the field.

Dr D C Joshi, dean of Faculty of Food Processing at Anand Agricultural University who was chief guest at the function addressed the gathering.
Joshi stressed that farmers are the true researchers in the agriculture and emphasized the importance of primary level processing to increase the overall income and profitability of the cultivation.
Centre’s former head Dr R S Kurothe highlighted the importance of farm innovators day.
Important technologies developed in the centre relevant to the area were also presented and discussed with the farmers by Dr B K Rao, senior scientist and Dr Gopal Kumar, scientist of the centre.
