Sheffield United and Bristol City lead League One nominees

Sheffield United and Bristol City are both in line for an award double after the clubs were nominated in the Manager and Player of the Month categories for February in Sky Bet League One.

Blades boss Nigel Clough and forward Jamie Murphy are up for honours, as are Robins manager Steve Cotterill and centre-back Aden Flint.

Preston’s Simon Grayson and Port Vale boss Rob Page are competing with Clough and Cotterill for the managerial award, while Gillingham midfielder Bradley Dack and Crawley striker Izale McLeod are the other nominations for the players’ award.

The Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month nominees for February are...

Nigel Clough (Sheffield United)

Matt Done has been seamlessly integrated into Clough’s side. United collected 14 points from seven games, including a fine 3-1 win at leaders Bristol City. The fans are happy, too, as the attacking play he preaches brought 14 goals.

Steve Cotterill (Bristol City)

Juggling his squad while maintaining City’s place at the top was Cotterill’s biggest challenge this month. City fitted in eight league fixtures in just 28 days. Five wins and 16 points say that he met that challenge successfully.

Simon Grayson (Preston North End)

A perfect month for North End, who reaffirmed their promotion credentials with a maximum 15 points, 10 goals scored and none conceded - a tribute to Grayson’s man-management skills and level-headedness following an inconsistent spell.

Rob Page (Port Vale)

February became his most impressive month so far. Ten points from five games and the division’s second tightest defence in that period lifted Vale into the promotion picture.

The Sky Bet League One Player of the Month nominees for February are...

Bradley Dack (Gillingham)

This technically gifted 21-year-old has blossomed recently, helped by moving from the wing to a central position which suits his energy and ability to find gaps with his passes. Showed a cool head to score against Peterborough United and Milton Keynes Dons.

Aden Flint (Bristol City)

Flint’s commanding presence and assurance in the City back three helped to preserve four clean sheets in a month when he played every minute of eight games. He also found time to score from set pieces versus Peterborough United and Colchester United.

Izale McLeod (Crawley Town)

McLeod showed his full goalscoring talents with a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Barnsley that owed everything to power, persistence and precision. Also scored against Yeovil Town, while his hold-up play underpinned the 2-1 win at Swindon Town.

Jamie Murphy (Sheffield United)

February 2015 will live long in his memory as the month in which he saw the birth of his first child, signed a new long-term deal, and played some of his finest football to date, taking on defenders at will and scoring three goals.
