Gerard Pique has been fined €10,500 by a Spanish judge for abusing the police after being given a parking ticket outside of a nightclub.

Pique wrote an apology to the court hearing in Barcelona for the public order offence that took place on 13 October last year.

Judge Maria Asuncion Gonzalez fined Pique for "disrespectful behaviour and being verbally aggressive".

According to the police report, Pique is alleged to have told the arresting officer "You're jealous cos I'm famous".

The Barcelona and his brother Marc were pulled over by police on their way to a casino at 2.30am. Marc, who was said to have been driving, was apparently fined for parking in a bus lane in front of nightclub Catwalk for 15 minutes earlier in the evening, blocking the way of two taxis, who have a right to stop there.

The paper states that Pique got out of the car to 'discuss' the situation with the police.

But according to the police report, the defender was disrespectful, allegedly saying things like: "You're jealous cos I'm famous", "You’re only fining us cos you’re broke and need the commission", and "this fine isn’t going to be paid anyway cos I’m gonna call your boss and he’ll drop it".

He is also alleged to have said: "You're so full of yourselves, going around in your uniform and fining people like you're God's gift to the world", and "You're a disgrace, your profession and the entire police force are a f****** disgrace".

Pique later took to Twitter to apologise.
