Swarm of bees attack, 2 hospitalized in Navsari

Two persons were hospitalized after they were severely injured due to bee sting in Valoti village of Gandevi taluka in Navsari on Tuesday.

SURAT: Two persons were hospitalized after they were severely injured due to bee sting in Valoti village of Gandevi taluka in Navsari on Tuesday.
Lallu Patel, 75, and Narendra Patel, 52, were admitted in Bilimora after their blood pressure started dipping. They were also in deep shock and had bite marks all over their body. Another person Kamlesh Patel also suffered minor injuries.
The trio was in a farm when one of them accidentally touched a beehive. The bees attacked them and made them run for cover. The three ran towards the village and entered a home but in vain.
"The patients were under shock and their health parametres were poor due to the poisonous effect of the bee sting. Their condition was stabilized by medication," said Dr Hitendra Patel, who treated the patients.
The victims had severe swelling on face, hands and legs. They were also diabetic that complicated their condition. Doctors informed that they were treated to stop damage to kidneys too.
"They had come to the village to meet a relative and did not know about the presence of a large beehive in the farm," said Ketan Patel, sarpanch of Valoti village.
