TRS leaders are trying to appease graduates and seek their votes in the coming MLC elections as the party is yet to deliver many of its promises.
The leaders are urging the voters to show the same spirit which they showed during the separate Telangana agitation once again. This is viewed as mere rhetoric as separate statehood has been achieved and a government of the TRS formed nine months ago. The party leaders themselves are in doubt whether the Telangana sentiment will yield result one more time. There is also discontentment within the party as all the aspirants, whose names did the rounds, were in rude shock with the surprise selection of the candidates. Though they are displaying camaraderie, all is not well within the party. The ruling party leaders are faced with criticism from the opposition parties that are grilling them on the promises of regularisation of contract and outsourcing employees services and questioning why there was not a single notification for recruitment from the TRS government which promised one lakh jobs and so on.
The TRS leaders criticised BJP candidate Errabelli Rammohan Rao saying that he never took part in separate Telangana movement. But they failed to answer why the genuine activists were sidelined and newcomers given berths in Cabinet and tickets in MLC elections. Meanwhile, the BJP leaders are trying to bank on Modi and clean image of its candidate Mr Rammohan Rao and his charity work. “Mr Rammohan Rao provided free education to poor SC and ST children while P. Rajeswar Reddy of TRS turned education into business. The graduates should choose between good and bad,” BJP senior leader N. Indrasena Reddy.
