Western Ring Road crash: Truck and car collide in St Albans

A truck has crashed into a broken down car on the Western Ring Road in Melbourne's north west.

Witnesses told radio station 3AW the car was left a crumpled wreck, while the truck rolled on its side.

A police spokeswoman said a motorist had left their broken down car in the far left emergency lane of the Western Ring Road.

She said the truck appeared to have drifted into the emergency lane and crashed in the car.

"It has caused extensive damage to the car," the spokeswoman said.

It is understood no one was in the car the time.

Two outbound lanes of the Western Ring Road, near Furlong Road, in St Albans was closed for about an hour.

No one was seriously injured in the crash.

Emergency services are at the scene.
