Chief Judicial Magistrate court here on Tuesday sentenced Anbalagan (48), and wifeVijaya (45), to two years’ rigorous imprisonment for duping 27 people who invested in a chit fund company run by them.
Inspector (Crime Branch) K. Sunderrajan, who investigated the case, told The Hindu that they had collected Rs. 4 lakh from the investors by offering them attractive returns.
But they did not return the amount, he said.
The accused were arrested last year, and had already undergone one year imprisonment.
