The second edition of the annual ‘Bangalore Runner’s Unity Run’ (BRUR) was organised by ‘Jayanagar Jaguars’ in association with Vikram Hospital, a runners group, recently.

The event started at 6.30 am at Elim Resort, Kanakpura Road and had a whopping 1500 passionate runners taking part. More than 20 running groups, marathoners, seasoned and amateur runners, families and kids enjoyed the morning. Model, actor and marathoner Milind Soman flagged off the event.

“This is not a race but an opportunity for the members of the running community to come together and enjoy their passion to run. This year, we introduced a new route for runners which is a mixed terrain. It was free from traffic and included picturesque landscapes, small hamlets and plenty of green cover,” said Pramod Deshpande, a representative of ‘Jayanagar Jaguars’.

The run was designed as a family event as well. “While the participants ran, their family members could stroll through, walk or jog through the green areas in the resort,” added Pramod.

“People want to overcome the sedentary lifestyle and are becoming health conscious by the day. As a responsible healthcare facility, we want them to pay attention to their health and what better than running. Mere running can keep problems like blood pressure, body weight and heart issues at bay,” said Mr Sudhir Pai, CEO, Vikram Hospital.

Entertainment activities like photography competition and music performances were also organised.

The kids enjoyed their time in the swimming pool and play area while taking part in the rain dance at the same time. The proceeds of the run were given to the charity — ‘Vivekananda Service Society’ — an initiative by SRKVS Alumni.
