THINK! extends cycle safety campaign

The decision has been taken to continue THINK!’s recent bike safety campaign and use it to target seven new cities with high cyclist casualty rates.

Practical advice on how to avoid collisions for both motorists and riders will now be available in Bradford, Brighton and Hove, Hull, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Southampton. The campaign will also run for the third time in Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds and Manchester.

In 2014, 75 per cent of drivers agreed that the adverts were useful for reminding them to look out for cyclists.

Cycling minister Robert Goodwill said: “This poster campaign will build on the success of last year’s work to remind drivers to take care around cyclists and remind cyclists of the actions they can take to stay safe on the road.”
He added that this was especially important as spring arrived and more people took advantage of the milder weather to get out on their bikes.
