Huge fight breaks out between Bilbao Basket and Laboral Kutxa Baskonia

A basketball match between Bilbao Basket and Laboral Kutxa Baskonia in the Spanish ACB League was marred by a brawl that erupted in the closing stages of the game.

Bilbao were leading 91-73 deep into the fourth and final quarter, with power forward Dejan Todorovic spearheading the counterattack after a Baskonia move broke down.

Just as Todorovic stretched his 6 foot 5 inch frame to dunk and extent Bilbao's lead, the referee blew for travelling and Tornike Shengelia of Baskonia brushed past Todorivic.

Incensed, Todorivic rounded on Shengelia and sparked a huge fight in the corner of the court.

Dairis Bertāns, the Bilbao number nine, attempted to throw a particularly heavy punch, but missed his intended target.

After the melee was over, officials reportedly ejected Shengelia and all players from both benches for participating in the fight.

Before leaving the arena, Shengelia comforted a young boy who was sitting close to where the fighting had occurred.

Bilbao went on to win the match 93-75 to shore up their position in fourth place.
