VADODARA: Former Vadodara mayor and BJP corporator Sunil Solanki has written a letter to the chief minister Anandiben Patel stating that a laboratory to test swine flu should be started at the earliest at the government-run SSG Hospital (SSGH). Solanki has claimed that the hospital was not starting the laboratory due to reluctance on the part of staff members there.
The SSGH treats swine flu patients and also collects samples presently.
While these samples were tested at the hospital itself earlier, now these are being sent to Ahmedabad.
Solanki claimed that the hospital had the necessary infrastructure and a laboratory was also made. He added that only staff had to be earmarked for the laboratory to begin work there. Solanki sought that the laboratory should be started at the earliest because presently 35 to 40 samples from the hospital were being carried to Ahmedabad for testing. Solanki also raised the issue of transfers of doctors from the SSGH to other hospitals in the state that had medical colleges affiliated to them. He said that because of this SSGH was suffering due to shortage of staff.
