People of Saurashtra, who had just started feeling the summer heat, were frantically searching for woolens since Saturday night.The sudden change in weather resulted in rains and downpours across the district on Sunday.

RAJKOT: People of Saurashtra, who had just started feeling the summer heat, were frantically searching for woolens since Saturday night.
The sudden change in weather resulted in rains and downpours across the district on Sunday. The rains were accompanied by chilly winds at most places, sending shivers up the spines of people.
Moderate to heavy rainfall was reported in most parts of the region, which is in fact heading towards a cruel summer due to acute drinking water crisis.

According to district flood control room officials, the rainfall was recorded in the range of 5mm to 25mm.
In Rajkot district, Upleta received 28mm followed by Dhoraji (20mm), Jamkandorna (18mm), Gondal (15mm) and Rajkot city getting 15mm rainfall.
In Junagadh district, Manavadar received 22mm rainfall followed by Vanthali (20mm), Junagadh (10mm) and Bhesan received 10mm rainfall.
Rainfall was also reported in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar and north Gujarat districts of Banaskantha Patan and Mehsana. At many places, the sudden downpour resulted in water-logging and people struggled to wade through the streets.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said that light to moderate rainfall would continue to occur in the next two days ending Tuesday evening.
