A mix of light-weight silk saris with elaborate borders, mutka silk saris and a whole range of cotton and silk saris in traditional weaves catch one’s attention at Pochampally Ikat Art Mela – 2015 that began here on Monday.

From home linen to dress material, exquisite silk saris to handloom saris, handbags to cushion covers, the venue displays a range of fabrics that suit the season.

Inaugurated by Shobhana Shona of Miss Vizag fame, the exhibition houses a blend of contemporary and traditional weaves that come in a variety of shades.

Some 400 weavers from Pochampally Handloom Park have come together to exhibit their creative expertise in designing eco-friendly handloom products for the purpose. “Our objective is to improve livelihood of the artisans and promote their products by bringing them directly to consumers. With an overwhelming response that we received last year, we hope that the same trend will continue this time as well,” said B. Lava Kumar, director of the park.

The exhibition is open till March 8 at Lions Club, Ramnagar between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
