Swachh Abhiyan begins in Dang

SURAT: The city-based Nature Club Surat, an NGO working for the protection of environment, birds and animals, has taken up a cleanliness campaign in the tribal dominated Dang district under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Over dozen-odd volunteers from the NGO took up a two-day long cleanliness campaign during the weekend at the waterfalls in Dang.
Hundreds of tonnes of plastic bottles, wrappers, tetra packs, papers, bottles etc.were collected from Gira Falls near Waghai and Girimala Falls near Sabridham in Dang. tnn
Nature Club Surat president Snehal Patel said, "Our 15 volunteers were deployed at the waterfalls in Dang to perform cleanliness activities. They also spread awareness among the visitors to keep the nature and environment clean. The garbage was taken to the disposal site at Ahwa."
A volunteer said, "It is the responsibility of the local administration to put up garbage bins at the tourists places where hundreds of people gather. The tourists need to be sensitized on the issue of cleanliness."
