Panel to select names for VC post tomorrow

The panel of names for the post of Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University is likely to be finalised at a meeting of the search committee headed by Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor B. Thimme Gowda in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Official sources told The Hindu on Tuesday that the search committee consisted of Prof. Thimmappa; P. Balaram, former Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru; V.G. Talwar, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore; and Vijayalakshmi Deshmane, oncologist, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru.

The post of Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University is vacant since June 2014.

Names of in-charge Vice-Chancellor G.R. Naik and the former Registrar of the university S.L. Hiremath are the probable candidates.
