Truck driver arrested with 2 kg opium

The accused has been identified as Harjinder Singh of Sirsa district in Haryana.

The CIA-2 staff of Ludhiana police recovered 2 kg opium from a truck driver in Sanjay Gandhi colony on Sunday.

The police caught him when he was driving a car. The police found the opium hidden under the driver’s seat and the drug costs around Rs 2 lakh in the market.

The accused has been identified as Harjinder Singh of Sirsa district in Haryana.

In charge of CIA-2 Sub-Inspector Mohinder Singh said the police signalled the driver to stop the car but the accused tried to escape which raised the suspicion.

The officer said the accused used to get opium from the border districts in his truck and then supply to his customers in Ludhiana.

A case was registered against the accused at division number 7 police station under the NDPS Act.
