ABBOTABAD:

A girl from a remote village on Monday told the media that she was sexually assaulted multiple times by one of her relatives, who had been blackmailing her through her rape-video.

Accompanied by her father, ZB told journalists that she was first assaulted about four months back by one of her close relatives, Ilyas, while she was shepherding her goats in a forest.

The girl claimed that Ilyas first offered her some sweets, which made her unconscious and later raped her while also videotaping his crime.

According to ZB, the accused once again came to her after a few days and showed her the video. Ilyas, a father of seven, threatened her that he would make the video viral and also kill the girl’s father and brother – who work in Karachi – if she did not fulfill his desire.

The victim said she had to keep silent for the sake of her family’s honour and for the life of her family members and continued submitting to his criminal desire.

However, she could not conceal the truth when her father returned home a couple of days back. Her father supported her morally and took her to the police station. However, the police refused to register the case as the accused is an influential person, she added.

However, on Monday the victim – along with rights activist Advocate Idrees Awan – lodged a complaint with Abbottabad’s District Police Officer Sher Akbar Khan, who ordered to register a criminal case against the accused as well as medical examination of the victim.

According to Advocate Awan, the victim has some clips of the footage that she produced as proof before the DPO. “The victim’s medical examination has been carried out at the Benazir Shaheed Teaching Hospital and the report is expected by Tuesday (today),” he said.
