Afro-hip-hop star PeeKay (pictured) has released a new club banger simply titled “Seiko”. The number features another equally gifted rapper Simba Tagz. “Seiko” is likely to follow on the success of his previous single “Show Me Love”, a crossover hit which featured top Jamaican DJ Busy Signal that fired up the dancehall scene for a while.

In answer to critics who say he deviated from Afro hip-hop, Peekay replies that he does not believe in boundaries between genres:

“In fact, it is my mission is to make an international breakthrough for a sound that is proudly identified as Zimbabwean music,” he told The Herald Entertainment.

The latest single is testimony to PeeKay’s creativity as it rides on an Afro bass which like “Ma1” will have heads bouncing to the beat.

And if the formula on “Ma1” featuring BaShupi worked you cannot blame PeeKay for repeating the same on “Seiko”. The track is danceable and has an easy hook that fans can sing along to way after the tracks ends. But again it is the consistency with which PeeKay is executing his vibe that will make you believe he is here to stay. So far, all his singles have been hits in pubs and clubs around the country.

According to his management, a video of the song will be out anytime soon and those who have seen his previous videos can expect magic.

Late last year the musician made headlines after collaborating with Jamaican singer Busy Signal on a track titled “Show Me Love”.

The track was recorded in Jamaica and the United States, and is a fusion combining both hip-hop and dancehall genres.

He also won three awards, last year at the Zim Hip-Hop Awards as Best Male, Best Newcomer and Song of the Year awards outshining heavy-weights like Stunner and Maskiri.
