A power outage hit parts of Nagano Prefecture on Monday morning, leaving 380,000 households without power, as well as disrupting the Nagano shinkansen, traffic lights, offices, retail outlets and hospitals.
According to Chubu Electric Power Co, there was a problem with the transmission line between the Shinano and Toshin substations at around 5:30 a.m., NTV reported.
Chubu Electric said 30 towns were affected. Shinkansen services between Nagano and Karuizawa were suspended. Operation resumed from 9:40 a.m.
Police said that more than 2,415 traffic lights went out, NTV reported.
Chubu Electric said power was restored at 10:06 a.m.
